Review: Scream 4 (2011)

I'm gettin' too old for this shit.
15 years from the original and 11 years since the last installment, director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson team up to bring a 4th - and hopefully final - sequel to the Scream series.  Although not nearly as unique as the original, I felt like this movie did a great job of equally creating an homage and spoofing the horror genre - including their own Scream movies.  Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), heads back home after her successful and therapeutic book has helped to straighten out her life... but not so fast... it appears Ghostface is back, too.  David Arquette and Courtney Cox return as well, though it makes for very awkward scenes due to their divorce proceedings during the shooting of this movie.  In an attempt to inject some youth into the series, the studio added Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere (glorious, even with butch hair), and Rory Culkin - as well as a mess of other recognizable cameos.  Overall, this movie was entertaining for fans of the series, but never felt like they fully achieved what they set out to and so I'd say it makes for a great one-time watch.  Nostalgic, but not a game-changer like the original.

My Score:  7/10
IMDB Score:  6.5/10
